Winter guard is the fastest growing activity of the performing arts today.  It combines the
equipment, tools and training of our summer color guard, takes place in gymnasiums or arenas,
performed to pre-recorded music and provides students and audiences an experience unlike
anything else around.

About
The St. Cloud Winter Guard was founded in 1999 as a tool to train students of the summer
marching band and performed at area basketball games.  In 2000, the group took on the name
"Eclipse Winter Guard" as well as joined the
North Star Circuit, the governing body of the color
guard activity for Minnesota and surrounding states.  The following two seasons of 2001 & 2002
earned Eclipse the Championship title of Scholastic A Division II and Gold Medals.  In the 2003
season, Eclipse was promoted mid-season to Division I where they earned 3rd place honors and
the Bronze Medal and another bronze in 2004 & 2005. In 2006, Eclipse Winter Guard earned the
North Star Circuit gold medal, Minneapolis Regional Independent A Champion title and was a WGI
Independent A class semi-finalist. In 2007, Eclipse once again won the NSC Scholastic A
Championship was promoted to Scholastic Open, was the  St. Louis Regional IA Champion and
WGI IA semi-finalist. In 2008, Eclipse was promoted in the North Star Circuit to Scholastic Open where they finished 2nd, defended their Regional title as the Kansas City IA Champion and edged closer to their goal of WGI IA finalist as they placed 18th overall.

The 2009 season will bring the Eclipse Winter Guard back to the St. Louis Regional, WGI Championships and their first year in Independent A Class classification in the North Star Circuit.
