St. Cloud All-City Marching Band

Streets across Minnesota and around the country turn blue as The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band performs before thousands of fans and parade enthusiasts every summer. For over 25 years, The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band has delighted crowds with unique and original shows that challenge the performers and thrill the audience.

The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band is a competitive marching band, bringing home numerous awards and and accolades. The students, instructors and dedicated volunteers proudly represent the St. Cloud area in local parades and band competitions. But competition and civic pride aren't our only motivations. More than anything else, The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band provides a fantastic opportunity for students to participate in programs that emphasize teamwork, discipline, music, and, of course – fun!

The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band IS NOT a school program. It is a separate non-profit organization that is entirely self-funded. Comprised of students grades 7-12 from St. Cloud and neighboring communities that do not offer a marching opportunity, The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band currently has members from nearly a dozen area high schools and junior highs.

The summer marching band is comprised of four sections and a Drum Major. Below is a brief description of each section in the order that they usually appear in parades.

Drum Major

A student drum major proudly leads the entire band down the street during the parades and provided student leadership throughout the season.

Honor Guard

Sometimes called the American Squad, the Honor Guard includes the front banner, American, Minnesota & other flags and saber or rifle. They are the first unit of the band and considered by many to be one of the most important.

Colorguard

Includes flags, rifles and other visual elements including modern dance. The colorguard is the pageantry that provides the visual statement of the band.

Band Proper

Includes all brass & woodwind instruments. The band is the melody that carries group.

Drumline

Includes snares, bass drums, cymbals, tenors and other auxiliary. The drumline is the rhythm backbone that keeps the sound together and the feet in step.
