The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band's Eclipse Winter Guard was established in 1999 as an opportunity for members to continue to perform after the summer marching season or try something different within the "marching band" genre. Many of our guard performers play an instrument in the marching band.
Unlike our St. Cloud All-City Marching Band summer colorguard, which performs outdoors on the parade routes, the Eclipse Winter Guard performs indoors, usually in a gym or indoor arena, during the winter season. Also, there is no band involved. Eclipse Winter Guard performs to a recording of various musical genres combining dance and acrobatic features with the skillful use of flags, rifles, and sabres (traditional color guard equipment).
The Eclipse Winter Guard has danced, tossed and spun their way to many local, regional and national awards and accolades.
The Eclipse Winter Guard competes in the Independent A Class of the North Star Circuit, the governing body of winter guard activity for Minnesota and surrounding states. The Eclipse Winter Guard accepts 7-12 grade members from area schools that do not offer a similar program. Unlike the other St. Cloud All-City Marching Band programs, Eclipse also accepts a limited number of post-high school members up to the age of 22.
